Gospel rap music has been around for some time. However, unless you are a listener of gospel, you probably wouldn't have known much about this, and may have been caught off guard. However, where there has been street hip hop music to give respect to the streets, the hood, and wherever else credit is due, Christian hip hop makes sure to give glory to the Lord through rap lyrics and praise. Is it soft hip hop? Not in the least! Just like any other hip hop, the wordplay off of lyrics give off a deep meaning and, coupled with inspiring gospel instrumentals & beats as the background music, lets you feel the testimony of Gospel rap artists and singers and their deep and spiritual convictions and unbreakable union with Christ. There is something strong to be respected for the artist that gives praise and glory where it is due first. And then there are other Gospel artists that testify on the struggles of their lives and the disappointments that struck them until they found Jesus in their lives. For some to say that Christian hip hop is "soft" may simply not have given it a chance from the start.
