Mobb Deep Beats - Which Are Your Top 5 Beats Of All Time?
Over the years, I have had some influences from all kinds of hip hop music, rap music, r&b music, and even other types of music such as classical music, movie scores, and even video game music. In the course of hard, gangsta street rap, the beats always stand out to me. One of the more influential hip hop groups that has impacted my hip hop beats style has to be Mobb Deep.
The grimey and raw style of beats that came to the table, followed up with some nice lyrical warfare really had me listening and wanting to hear more. The earlier albums especially influenced me, such as the "Hell On Earth" rap album or the "Murda Muzik" album as well. Even the "Infamy" album placed some influence onto my music production. I mean, the lyrics were raw, the beats were simple but on point, and the marriage between lyrics and beats brought the dynamic to your ears!
That said, there are probably five tracks of all the Mobb Deep albums that I've listened to back in the day that really influenced me in terms of Mobb Deep beats that I can say were the Top 5 of all time. These hip hop tracks were:
- Shook Ones - The all time classic, Shook Ones by Mobb Deep definitely delivered! This track is still a heavily played track to this day, and one of their most gritty, guttah beats!
- Drop A Gem On 'Em - This Mobb Deep instrumental from the "Hell On Earth" rap album was sick! It was simple, yet there was something about it that really just brought out that east coast street feel to it!
- G.O.D. Part III - Both the original and remix versions had very tight east coast rap beats to them, though I was more partial to the original version. The original track had the sample of the movie Scarface, while I want to say that the remix version took a sample from the older horror movie Phantasm and of course, tweaked it to their feel. Both were pretty sick tracks though, also from the "Hell On Earth" album.
- It's Mine - Another sample off the famous movie Scarface, this beat brought about that arrogant street swagger to it! Along with Nas featured on the track, this Mobb Deep beat was electrified by the trio spittin' over this one!
- Crawlin' - Known as the famous Mobb Deep Jay-Z diss track, the power on this rap beat delivers heavy horns, deep bass, and an epic mood for the Mobb to spit over!
Of course, there are many other tracks that deliver the east coast thug music of Mobb Deep beats, many of which inspired me to make beats altogether. You can check out some of the Mobb Deep beats I've created from their influence on the site:
Although there are a lot of other Mobb tracks that have inspired me, the above tracks to me bring about some of the better beats on their collection of albums. So the question now is, which of the Mobb's beats do you find as the top 5 beats of all time?
