YTA - Youngin' the Artist Bringin' The Hot To The Mic
What's goin' on? It's Genycis once again bringin' you another blog post on another bangin' lyrical artist burning fires on any mic he touches. You all know how I am about lyrical kats... if you're lyrical, and even more so, if you're nice on the mic, you know you have my attention! And this kat right here, this
hip hop artist by the name Youngin' or YTA, this kat is bringin' the Hot to the Mic and had my attention with the tracks!!
YTA has been in the rap game for a good while now, and you can tell from the quality and flow that he delivers, that he's been doing it for awhile and that he's passionate about his work. His vocals have a bit of a raspyness to the tone, which sets off the tracks nicely in a grimey manner, yet the flow and delivery of the tracks brings a nice balance to what he puts on the tracks.
I especially was feelin' the track, Hood Motivation, as the track went deep and painted images in my mind as I felt the vibe thru my headphones immediately. I could already visualize the struggles that he spits about, and felt it as though I was there... reminded me of some of the struggles in NYC when I was growing up. The singing on this track set it off nicely, but YTA brings the emotion in his delivery, and it's tracks like this that I miss, as it seems to have taken a backseat with the party club atmosphere. This track goes hard and cross breeds a bit of the new school feel with that old school lyrical flava... definitely a bangah.
Another track that went hard was Dreams vs Reality. This track brought that soulful flava, that NYC taste to the track... like I could easily see YTA spittin' on a remade version of this track with Nas. This one really caught me too, the beat, the delivery, YTA did his thing on this track!
I had a chance to get some info from this kat and could tell that he was very passionate about the music he puts out. Another deeper aspect that adds to YTA's drive and passion is that he was influenced heavily by his late older brother. This keeps his drive pushing stronger and his tributes to his older brother more respectable as well. Much respect to you fam once again on your loss.
Some background info on YTA right quick for you as well. He was born Albert Connor in Puerto Rico and moved to Anguilla and pretty much was born and raised there, where he spent a lot of time experiencing life which made fuel for his lyrics and wordplay. YTA was part of the Black Notes recording label while there as well where he continued pursuing his passion on delivering flavaful hip hop music.
His first official track was put together in 2009, called "Guns Make Em Run". This track gained major publicity and amped up his name more and more, and after being well received by the masses, he continued to produce songs with a group called the "Bang Bang Boys" at first, but then ventured off to his solo projects, where he then launched his first official mixtape, "Four Seasons", which was the mixtape that set off his career to newer heights!
Since those moves in the earlier part of his career, YTA has been doing bigger and bigger things in the Caribbean and has been greeted with, and taken part in many performances out there as well. It'll be interesting to continue seeing the success of this kat. He currently now resides in Miami where he's continuing to push his music career to even greater levels. You can already tell from his music that he's dedicated to his craft, so I know good things are in store.
YTA is working on the release of his 2nd mixtape, "Self Explanatory", so be on the lookout for that as well. I'll be checking him out further and when he lets me know about the release, I'll be sure to post more on it as well so stay tuned.
